About

Rachel Turner is a visual artist from Whidbey Island, WA, now residing in Austin, TX.

She studied fine arts under the instruction of internationally recognized artist Mary Iverson (@themaryiverson) at Skagit Valley College in her home state of Washington. She exceeded expectations and was awarded the Art Departmental award her graduating year.

After earning her Associates in Visual Arts, she moved to Chicago to complete a Bachelors in Fine Arts at the world renowned art museum and school, the Art Institute of Chicago. She studied fine art and graphic design with plans to be a freelance artist in multiple areas, primarily the music industry.

She followed the passion for music to Austin, TX, where she works in the live music and entertainment industry, while creating art for a number of musicians. She has created album art for small artists like Night Lights and worked on bigger projects, like a mural for Harry Styles while he was on tour playing at the Moody Center.

Free expressions of color and abstract design are incorporated throughout her work, expressed with things she is passionate about, like her series of skate decks inspired from her college years spent skateboarding, or the portrait collage created using her paintings to create a new reflection of herself. Primarily an acrylic painter, she has also created oil paintings and plans to expand her methods of creating as she continues to grow as an artist.

Currently her work is on display at Medici Roasting in the Clarksville neighborhood of Austin, TX.

Come see her show from April 5th-May 30th, 2023.
